John Ivey was born in the Midwest and has lived in Australia, Hawaii, California and the Pacific North West. This blend of cultures is reflected in the stylistic diversity of the music that he writes. A self-taught guitar and harmonica player, John’s  upbeat music and introspective lyrical style has been described as “Jack Johnson meets 90’s rock.” John received some formal teaching in music theory at UCLA, but the majority of his knowledge of music comes from playing with many talented musicians over the years.

2024 saw John perform 96 shows at Southern Oregon’s Wineries, Taverns and Lodges. John performs as a solo artist, and as the front and lead guitar for both the duo and trio versions of “The John Ivey Band.”
